As we are well aware by now, Chelsea have agreed the summer signing of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, who will arrive at Stamford Bridge in July.
He of course will not be allowed to play until next season as The Premier League still battle to get their current season finished.
But Chelsea have signed a player that can only be described as a marquee signing, and what a coup he is.
Werner had been linked with a host of other clubs, but he decided on joining Chelsea in the end, and he has been talking about exactly what it was that convinced him to join the London club.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has already demonstrated some great pulling power with the arrival of Ajax star Hakim Ziyech this summer, and it turns out that he was a key reason that Werner chose Chelsea as well.
As reported by The Daily Star, Werner said:
“The discussions with those responsible at Chelsea were so good that I ended up choosing Chelsea.
“The coach in particular was standing behind me and really wanted me to know that I was going to Chelsea, so I can feel as comfortable as here.
He also outlined that in talks Lampard “often emphasized how much he wanted me, how much he valued me as a person”.
