Leicester boss coy but isn’t being distracted by Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell pursuit

Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell is now Chelsea’s top summer target after recently securing a deal to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to The Evening Standard.

Lampard is on the hunt for a new left back after bolstering his attack with Werner, and Hakim Ziyech who will also be arriving this summer from Ajax.

England international Chilwell seems to be the main guy that Lampard wants over on his left hand side, but any deal isn’t expected to be easy to conclude.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers will continually be asked questions about Chilwell’s future as a result, and he answered such questions again yesterday.

Rodgers has often been coy in his answers, never directly saying that Chilwell is not for sale, or that a deal will not be done, and he was pretty similar in his response again yesterday, as The Standard reported.

Rodgers isn’t losing any sleep though, he said:

“The club have got good experience of situations where bigger the so-called bigger clubs come in.

“We’re always aware that while there are good players, that will always be of interest to other teams that have more money than us.

“We don’t lose sleep worrying about it. We’re here to develop players and improve the standard of the team. Of course, if we’re doing that then that will be taken note of by other clubs.”
