Chelsea announced yesterday that Peter Bonetti, one of the club’s great legends from the 60s and 70s had died, and the news has really added a sad tinge to an already troubling time.
Manager Frank Lampard was on Sky Sports today discussing recent events, and at the very start he was asked to comment about the death of such a well known and loved figure at the club.
He’d been around since the day the coach signed for the club as a player, and has been an every present behind the scenes until his recent illness.
Lampard described yesterday’s news as “a huge loss to Chelsea and football,” and that seems to be the prevailing feeling from around the game.
We really lost a good one here. Rest in peace, Peter.
