Premier League to use points-per-game method that see’s Chelsea qualify for the Champions League

Football’s big bosses across the globe are currently partaking in a number of important video call meetings in order to decide the best form of action for leagues and competitions around the world.

Things are very much up in the air right now due to the uncertainty of the global pandemic. However, plans are being put in place as I type in order for the best practice to be carried out.

It still looks that unless anything drastically changes very soon in the UK, the current season could well be void.

UEFA will then have to decide who qualifies for their domestic European competitions next season. And it looks like whilst they have set out their plans, largely it will be down to the individual leagues to decide who qualifies, according to a fresh report from The Daily Mail.

They claim that instead of using UEFA’s option for clubs to partake in a playoff round of matches to determine who qualifies for Europe, they will use the other option of qualifying teams on a points-per-game- method, also known as on sporting merit.

This basically means that with Chelsea currently sat in fourth spot in the league, and having won the Europa League last season, it is pretty much certain that they will qualify for next seasons Champions League competition if this season is void.
