Chelsea have made ‘preliminary contact’ to sign Ajax goalkeeper

One of the biggest dramas of Frank Lampard’s first reign as a Premier League manager surrounded his number one goalkeeper and the clubs record signing, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Spanish international wen through a real dip in form after a pretty impressive first season at Stamford Birdge and as a result, was benched for a few games by Lampard in favour of veteran backup option Willy Caballero.

This lead to rumours that Lampard may well be looking to sign a new keeper this summer, either to replace Kepa or give him some real competition.

The latter looks more likely due to how much the club paid for Kepa, they would surely make a loss if they chose to sell.

Andre Onana is the name touted as being the keeper to come in and give Kepa some real competition for next season and according to L’Equipe (cited by Get French Football News), Chelsea have already made preliminary contact with Ajax regarding signing him this summer.

They say Chelsea are amongst a number of clubs interested in signing the 24-year old Cameroon international.
