Chelsea could take advantage as UEFA relax FFP rules in light of pandemic

UEFA have relaxed Financial Fair Play rules off the back of the Coronavirus pandemic in order to help clubs through the crisis, according to The Athletic.

Footballs governing body has extended the deadline for clubs to prove they have no “overdue payables” — such as unpaid tax bills, transfer instalments or wages — from March 31 to April 30.

Many fear that the relaxation of the rules could lead to some of the more wealthier clubs taking advantage by over-spending on players, and Chelsea may well use the opportunity to do so.

With a big summer planned and expensive targets such as Jadon Sancho being reliably linked with making a move to Stamford Bridge, there may well be quite a bit of summer spending from Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea will be wise to keep control of what they are spending though, as they will. They will also have a number of players they will be looking to sell bringing incoming as well.
