Chelsea considering moving for £42 million winger after failed January bid

Chelsea seemingly did not make many moves to sign players during the transfer window. However, the latest report of a failed bid makes you wonder what else they managed to keep under wraps.

There was nothing reported about it at the time, but according to the Matt Law of The Telegraph, Chelsea had an offer rejected by Ajax for their attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech last month.

He also believes that Chelsea will monitor the performances of the Moroccan international for the rest of the season and consider him as a cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Ajax could sell the 26-year old in the summer and are expecting offers to come in. Reportedly, a fee of around £42 million will be enough to convince them to release the player.

Ziyech played for Holland at youth level but since switched allegiances to Morocco. He has scored 8 goals in all competitions this season gaining an impressive 21 assists along the way (Transfermarkt).
