Olivier Giroud agrees terms with Lazio, suggesting a Chelsea replacement is close

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud looks once again set to be close to leaving the club after agreeing terms to sign with Lazio, according to Sky Italia’s Transfer Expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

However, they are now awaiting the final green light from Chelsea before a deal can be concluded. There is no reason given as to why he must wait for Chelsea’s decision, but it would suggest that Chelsea want to bring in a replacement for Giroud before allowing the move.

In the same report, Di Marzio states that The Blues have had their first proposal to sign Dries Mertens rejected by Napoli, so perhaps this is the deal that Giroud’s Lazio move is now hinging on.

It is all being left rather late as we approach the 24 hour remaining mark this evening. Giroud will be hoping that the deals will be concluded as soon as possible as he is desperate to get his own career back on track.
