Frank Lampard’s words confirm that Cavani is more likely to sign than Dembele

Chelsea are in the hunt for a new striker this window, that has all but been confirmed by Frank Lampard in his last couple of press conferences.

All the talk has been about a potential move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, or veteran striker Edinson Cavani from PSG.

Frank Lampard has confirmed that the club are in talks to sign Cavani, as reported by Goal.

But Lampard said he could not provide an update on that situation because he himself has not spoken to Cavani.

On discussing whether Chelsea can convince Cavani to reject Atleti, he said: “I’m not in conversation with Cavani so I can’t tell you that.”

“Until anyone’s here or not here and signed somewhere else that’s the only time for me to comment on those situations about whether they’re persuadable or not.”

He also ruled out Chelsea’s alleged move for Dembele this window at least, dismissing the stories as being untrue.

Chelsea are now left with one fit striker in the squad for Hull City today, with Tammy Abraham injured, and as Goal report, it doesn’t look like Olivier Giroud is in the squad at all as he left the training ground in his own vehicle instead of the club coach bound for Hull.
