Chelsea handed Ben Chilwell boost as Leicester shop for replacements

Leicester City and England left back Ben Chilwell is the well known subject of a transfer pursuit by Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, as first reported by The Daily Telegraph back in November 2019.

However, any move in January was quickly ruled out due to Leicester naturally not wanting to lose any players mid-season, especially whilst doing so well in the league.

But the summer could be a different story, and Leicester are already looking at new left backs to bring in, according to The Daily Mail.

They name former Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand from Southampton as the potential target to come in and replace Chilwell, who they say remains a key target for Lampard.

The Chelsea manager is not confident with his current options Marcos Alonso, and Emerson, and has often resorted to using the right footed Cesar Azpilicueta at left back over the other two.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is a fan of Bertrand having coached him at Chelsea, and later signed him at Reading.
