Chelsea vice-captain explains the reasons for West Ham defeat

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard cut a frustrated figure throughout his sides 1-0 home loss to West Ham yesterday, and he sums up how the Chelsea supporters felt after the match.

The Blues put on a thoroughly lacklustre showing in front of their own supporters and should really be hanging their hands this morning.

I don’t like to accept tiredness as an excuse, but some of the players did look fatigued yesterday after a run of close successive matches.

One man who cut a very tired figure was the captain on the day, Jorginho.

The Chelsea midfielder has put in a few poorer performances recently after playing so well at the start of the season.

But the Italian believes that there is another reason that his side failed to even get a point against a team that sit in 13th place in the league.

As reported by The Express, Jorginho reflected on the match.

He said:

“I think we were not clinical, we need to be more clinical when we create the chances.

“We weren’t and then we conceded. Then it is difficult.

When asked if his team-mates were tired, Jorginho added: “Maybe, but we created some chances but didn’t score. That’s the problem.”
