Chelsea’s list of fines was leaked on social media earlier this week, creating a tasty discussion about whether the gigantic sums were “fair” on players.
On ESPN they largely seemed to think so. As Julien Laurens points out, missing training is just “bad discipline”, given you’re supposed to be there an hour ahead of time.
The other pundits point out that while the numbers are unimaginable for some people, for these players on £100k a week, it’s really not as much as it seems.
It’s an interesting debate either way, and it gives a little glimpse of the life of a footballer.
