“They trust Ethan” – German reporter gives inside information on Ampadu’s nightmare loan

Ethan Ampadu is still yet to make a competitive appearance for RB Leipzig this season after joining them on loan from Chelsea this summer.

The move has so far been seen as a total disaster by Chelsea supporters who believed this was an ideal loan for the Welsh international.

However, the 19-year old might have been given more minutes by Frank Lampard than he has gotten so far in the Bundesliga, and that has led for many to demand the youngster be recalled.

The ideal thing for Ampadu at this time is plenty of match time, for his fitness, for his development, and for his confidence.

If this situation is the same come January, Chelsea should recall Amapdu and send him on loan to a Premier League side where he has chances of more game time.

Football London have been speaking to Bild’s RB Leipzig reporter Stefan Krause to get some inside information on the situation.

Krause said:

“First of all: He is very young player in a young team (the age average is 24 years). And the young team gets a new, young coach with Julian Nagelsmann, 32.

“He has some new ideas how to play football and want to change the team from a counter attack-team into more ball possession.

“But that change needs some time and Nagelsmann will do that with the players who are to stay in the club for one or more years at the moment.

“I’m sure his [Ampadu] time is coming. Nagelsmann told us that he is very satisfied with his performance in the training sessions.

“Ethan has a good connection to his team mates. The schedule of the club says that in the end of October and November the teams from the bottom half of the table are opponents.

“In games against teams like Paderborn, Mainz, Cologne he will get his chance.

“I don’t believe that [he will go back to Chelsea in January]. The squad is very close and the club don’t want to change that much. They trust in Ethan and want to give him a chance until summer.”
