Key Chelsea man ‘unlikely to be risked’ in Newcastle clash

N’Golo Kante’s injury struggles continue in a bizarre season so far for the France World Cup winner.

He has been on and off the field with reoccurring injuries so far this season and as a result, has become quite injury prone, albeit we are hopeful that it is just a period.

Wisely though, Frank Lampard is unlikely to risk playing Kante on Saturday against Newcastle United, due to his latest issue picked up for France on international duty.

This is according to The Evening Standard, who describe the latest injury as ‘an adductor muscle problem’.

They say he will be assessed over the next 48 hours and then a decision will be made on his involvement at the weekend.

It makes absolute sense to rest him though, with a number of other options for Lampard to use as cover. It’s more important to get Kante back and fully fit for the rest of the season and get him out of this injury period.
