The 19-year old has been battling to get fit again after sustaining a knee injury early in the summer in an England under 20s match.
Since then his recovery has gone well and he will soon be testing his match fitness in some Chelsea under 23 matches.
There is a real buzz surrounding his return to the field, with the academy graduate being rated very highly by Chelsea supporters who have watched him come up through the clubs youth ranks.
He was impressive in his first full season in senior football for Wigan Athletic last season, and he is expected to come straight in and directly compete with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta for the starting right back role.
