OFFICIAL: Dujon Sterling joins new loan club in Championship

Chelsea have loaned out young right back Dujon Sterling to Wigan for the season.

The news was confirmed today by various sources, including Football.London writer Oliver Harbord, whose Tweet you can see embedded below.

The youngster will head to the North West to replace fellow loan army member Reece James, whose successes last season have seen him recalled to the senior squad. Replacing him will be quite the challenge, as Harbord notes.

Sterling isn’t considered as talented as James, but he has shown great promise in his years in the academy, and last year’s loan to Coventry in League One saw him make a seamless transition to senior football.

Moving up a league will be a challenge, but with the skills he’s picked up in our elite academy and at the Ricoh Arena last season, Dujon has all the tools to flourish into a really top player.

Good luck, Dujon! We’re sure you’ll return an improved prospect.
