Chelsea defender arrives in Italy to complete loan move

Davide Zappacosta has arrived in Rome to complete his loan move to AS Roma, as reported by the club’s official English Twitter account.

The right back will have his medical with the Serie A side today, according to Goal.

The 27-year old arrived at Chelsea from Torino in 2017, but has failed to cement a regular first team place in the side, playing back up to Cesar Azpilicueta.

Chelsea have highly rated youngster Reece James back in the squad and due to return from injury soon, seemingly allowing Zappacosta to make his move back to Italy.

The loan move does include an option to buy clause, according to a report from Goal.

The Italy international will now be keen to restart his career, and will be hoping to be more of a regular feature at his new side.

Whilst 19-year old Reece James will be believing that he can do something that Zappacosta did not manage to do at Chelsea, by ousting club captain Azpilicueta.
