Chelsea starter banned from driving after speeding incident

Antonio Rudiger has been given a driving ban after being caught speeding earlier this year, according to a story in The Sun today.

The German defender was caught earlier this year travelling at 109mph when police caught him on the A3 road near Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.

Rudiger is currently out injured, and will have to serve his ban and pay a £660 fine for the offence, which happened in January. He was given a caution at the scene, then entered a guilty plea and had his hearing at the end of June.

It has now finally filtered down what his punishment will be, and frankly it doesn’t sound too bad for a pro footballer. A couple of months using a chauffeured car… maybe he’ll never go back to driving at all.

He’s recovering from injury at the training ground, so maybe Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Callum Hudson-Odoi can start giving him a lift.
