Chelsea contract talks with promising 20-year-old enter advanced stages

Chelsea are in advanced talks to extend the contract of academy midfielder Luke McCormick, according to Football Insider.

The 20-year old centre midfielder has one year left on his current deal with the club, who are looking to get the hot prospect sealed down to a long term deal.

McCormick has come up through the youth ranks at Chelsea since joining the club in 2015, and has been a regular feature in the Under 18s squad.

Chelsea are looking to extend the contracts of a number of their academy stars, having recently tied down deals for Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Chelsea are confident that McCormick will now follow suit and sign a new deal at the club, ahead of Frank Lampard’s reign as head coach, report Football Insider.

Many of the young players will be looking at the fact that Lampard and his assistant Jody Morris are prepared to look at and promote the youth players, should they prove to be good enough.
