Callum Hudson-Odoi ‘very likely’ to sign new Chelsea deal

Frank Lampard confirmed his desire to keep Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea this morning in a press conference live from Japan.

It had been reported some weeks ago that the 18-year old academy starlet was in progressive talks with Chelsea over signing a new 5-year deal. However, Lampard’s words today suggest that perhaps it is not as far along as initially reported.

Chelsea’s correspondent for Goal, Nizaar Kinsella, has today reassured supporters that a new 5-year contract for Hudson-Odoi still remains ‘very likely’, as seen below.

The correspondent goes on to encourage fans not to panic, suggesting that there was also no need to panic whilst the Frank Lampard deal took some time to be announced.

With confirmation arriving on Monday that Mason Mount signed a new 5-year deal with the club, many have been expecting his academy counterpart to follow suit. But with the England international currently focusing on a return from injury, Chelsea supporters continue to lay in wait.
