Reports from Telegraph writer Matt Law today claim that Antonio Rudiger’s injury problem may be managed into next season. The former Roma man is apparently hesitant to rush back
That will mean the Germany defender joining Callum Hudson Odoi and Ruben Loftus Cheek on the injury list for the opening games, barring a miraculous recovery by someone.
That is stretching our thin squad pretty badly, even just for the opening games. We will have to hope Andreas Christensen and David Luis are extra careful on their holidays, as losing them now would really put us in trouble.

Rudiger was rushed back at the end of last season, and the medical staff may now regret giving him the all clear. It now looks like being a 3-4 month injury in total, which is pretty severe in modern terms.
When fit, he is one of a few players you would say is likely to be first choice for whichever manager comes in. That means this is a real blow for the whole club.
