Rafa Benitez linked with Chelsea return – but those reports later rubbished

Chelsea still have a manager, but it’s looking increasingly unlikely that he will stay at the club.

This morning a wave of rumours from Italy swept the web claiming that Rafa Benitez was one of the candidates in line for the job should Maurizio Sarri leave.

The Daily Mail even went so far as to describe his arrival as “imminent”, which did not go down well on Twitter:

But there’s good news already for those who don’t like the idea of a Rafa return. Matt Law has struck back and says that his sources say there’s nothing to these links:

We have to say we agree. Forget whether or not Rafa would be a good choice for the team, or whether he should be considered at all given his history, we’re just happy that we won’t have to deal with the internet chaos that would have erupted if indeed he was chosen.
