Derby County confirm Mason Mount exit, making Chelsea return seem likely

Derby County have posted the following Tweet, featuring Mason Mount’s highlights from the season. It also includes the message “thank you and all the best”, indicating he will be on his way this summer.

We can’t be certain what his future holds, and a lot will depend on who our manager is next season, but the fact that he’s not going to stick around at Derby has a lot of Blues fans saying that that means he’s going to be in the Chelsea squad for 19/20. It does seem likely that if he was going to be loaned anywhere, it would be back to the Rams, where he was settled and playing every week.

If Frank Lampard becomes out manager, that looks even more likely. What we do know for sure is that fans would be absolutely thrilled to have the England international back with the boys at Cobham next year. He has taken a big step up every year since leaving youth football, and this might just be the chance for his next one.
