BREAKING: Chelsea meet with Lampard to discuss manager’s job

Chelsea have met with Frank Lampard to begin discussions about the former Blue moving back to the club to become our manager, according to reports from Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com.

Maurizio Sarri is still in charge of course, but it’s being taken as read that he will be leaving this summer to coach Juventus.

Lampard is one of the obvious replacements, having just had a successful first season in management with Derby County, who he lead to the playoff final.

The fact that they have met is not surprising, but it shows that talks are developing rapidly. If there are face to face discussions going on, we must be almost certain that Sarri is going, and that Lampard is the man.

He has a great setup at Derby and wouldn’t want to mess them around. It all seems like it’s falling into place for a Super Frank return to the Bridge. And we can’t say we’re not incredibly excited about that prospect.
