David Luiz has extended his contract with Chelsea, the club have today announced on their official websites.
The defender now has a deal that runs until 2021, after signing on for two more seasons.
He’s been a key player for Maurizio Sarri this season, playing in the heart of the defence and getting a huge number of touches in his system.
Director Marina Granovskaia was effusive in her praise for the Brazilian, who she describes as the “perfect example” for others on and off the pitch.

He’s a popular figure around Stamford Bridge and this news will be popular too – at least with matchgoing fans. The 34 year old is getting a two year extension, meaning the club have broken their policy of only offering one year deals to their over 30s.
That will likely be due to the transfer ban that is currently in place on the club. We can no longer afford to let senior starters go if we have no chance of replacing him.
