Why Maurizio Sarri will drop this player despite being told he “cannot” by Sky pundit

Danny Higginbotham, in quotes on Sky Sports picked up in the Metro, told Maurizio Sarri that Callum Hudson-Odoi “can’t be taken out of the team”.

Most Chelsea fans would feel that way, and given how he played, Danny is correct.

But we’ll bet our bottom dollar Callum doesn’t actually start on Monday night against West Ham. And not just because Sarri likes to be a contrarian.

I mean, we do get the feeling sometimes that the former Napoli boss sometimes does these things to troll us rather than because he actually believes them, but in this case we really think he will only be acting in character.

After all, Hudson-Odoi played last night not because he’s the Italian’s favourite, but rather because both Pedro and Willian played at the weekend. Eden Hazard got that game off, so he will likely be ready to start again, but you can be sure it will be either Pedro or Willian, fresh from more than a week off, who will be playing alongside him.
