Maurizio Sarri gives update on Chelsea striker’s condition after ‘bad stomach ache’

Maurizio Sarri has provided an update on the condition of striker Gonzalo Higuain ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Goodison Park to face Everton.

Having stumbled last time out against Wolves, Chelsea cannot afford to drop any more points if they want to have any chance of coming out on top in this incredibly competitive race for top four.

Everton are next up, and though the Toffees have been struggling this term, they have more than enough quality to cause an upset – especially if Higuain is unable to make the cut.

Thankfully from a Chelsea perspective, Sarri is confident that Higuain will be in sufficient shape to be involved. Our manager is quoted by Football London saying:

“We will see [if Higuain will be fit. He had a bad stomach ache with a fever earlier this week.”

“It’s not a serious problem, so he should be able to play, but I don’t know yet. We will see.”

Regardless of whether you believe Higuain is what we need to solve our long-term struggles upfront, there can be no denying that we’re better off with him available.

If he is still feeling unwell, though, we’ll have Olivier Giroud fresh off a midweek hat-trick, who will be desperate to make that starting spot his own.
