Why today’s match with Man United will not go the same way as last year’s final

It’s never dull being a Chelsea fan. The last few seasons have given us a rollercoaster of success and failure quite unlike what most fans of other clubs have ever experienced.

Even last year we won a gritty FA Cup just as Antonio Conte’s team fell apart.

We take on the same opposition from that final today, hoping to do what we did to them in that final at Wembley again.

But Maurizio Sarri isn’t likely to play that way.

In that final, Conte set us up in a very pragmatic way, able to defend solidly and win with a Hazard goal from a penalty.

It was the kind of defensive, deep block tactic that Sarri just doesn’t seem interested in trying.

United too have a new manager, more happy to push forward than Jose Mourinho.

So while the competition and the opposition are the same, the game itself will be very different.
