Senior Chelsea board members “taken aback” by anti-Sarri song

One of the most notable features from Monday night’s loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup was the appearance of the “F*** Sarriball” chant that began ringing around Stamford Bridge.

The whole thing is pretty embarrassing to begin with. We can sympathise with the issues that those fans have with Sarri’s management and some of the decisions he made in that game, but there’s no question that signing songs about your own manager to try and get them booted is pretty humiliating for the club.

It wasn’t just fans who were getting embarrassed though. According to the Times the Chelsea board members in attendance at the game were “taken aback” by the vitriol. Perhaps now they finally understand just how poisonous the atmosphere is at the club right now?

They are often so insulated in their boardroom that they have little idea what’s going on with the fans. Whether or not you agree with that anti-Sarri songs, you can’t deny they have been effective in communicating heavy dissatisfaction to the board.
