Chelsea draw Malmo in the Europa League first knockout round

Chelsea have drawn Malmo in the Europa League.

After cruising through the group with 5 wins and a draw, we we will hope for easy progress through this round too. Hopefully we will be able to continue playing young players and resting Maurizio Sarri’s first team too.

Malmo will mean a trip to the icy cold of February in Sweden, but at least means we avoid going to Ukraine or Azerbaijan. Or Scotland.

We’ve also avoided some of the harder sides out there, hopefully making this whole trip a little less gruelling.

After this round we will have filtered out the weakest sides and added the Champions League teams, so there will probably be no easy rides left. But at that point, we may well be out of our other competitions already, leaving us able to focus entirely on this competition.

For now, let’s start crossing our fingers for more CHO and Ampadu action in Stockholm.
