Antonio Rudiger substituted with apparent groin injury

Chelsea’s frustrating afternoon against West Ham just got a lot more annoying, as Antonio Rudiger limped off to be replaced by Gary Cahill after 65 minutes.

The German was having an excellent game, and indeed has been having an excellent season, so to see him depart and be replaced by Gary Cahill was very concerning.

Just minutes before, Toni showed an astonishing burst of speed to catch Felipe Anderson as he looked to break the lines. Whether it was that recovery run or something else that he tweaked, he didn’t look OK to carry on when he eventually departed.

The prospect of facing Liverpool without our most in form and our fastest centre-back is very worrying. We just have to hope that it’s a minor niggle he can shake off in the next couple of days.

We’ll give you more information as we have it. This could really be a turning point in this season.
