Chelsea’s likely XI against Huddersfield with Eden Hazard among those not featured

Maurizio Sarri’s first game as Chelsea boss is coming up in just over 24 hours, and it will be fascinating to see what team he picks against Huddersfield.

The new coach had a very settled lineup in his preseason games, but that was before his World Cup stars returned, and before he made some big signings.

In goal, Kepa Arrizabalaga is in line to make his first appearance since joining from Athletic Bilbao.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso seem pretty locked in at full back, with only Emerson challenging for a spot.

In the middle Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz have the lead to start, but their shaky showings against Man City mean Andreas Christsensen could be an option.

In midfield things start to get complicated. Assuming Maurizio Sarri is going to give his World Cup boys another week off, and Mateo Kovacic isn’t fit, options are limited.

We will see Jorginho, for sure, with Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley seemingly the first choice pair ahead of him – although that three didn’t function well in the Community Shield, so Danny Drinkwater is a possibility too.

Up front, Alvaro Morata is the man to beat leading the line with Olivier Giroud still not fit, while Callum Hudson Odoi and Pedro should both be guaranteed one more start unti Eden Hazard and Willian are up to speed next week.
