Maurizio Sarri was asked about Gonzalo Higuain’s form in the press conference yesterday, and that perhaps wasn’t a surprise.
The striker, who had such success under Sarri at Napoli, was bought as a desperate “silver bullet” to try and get the team scoring goals more regularly. Instead, he has really struggled. Olivier Giroud looked a much better option when he played against Brighton in midweek.
Sarri on why Higuain has not reached his best: "It is not easy in the first months to play in the PL. It was a problem for Suarez also in his first season in Liverpool." He says he wants Higuain to stay at Chelsea but describes the situation as "not clear." #CFC

Sarri’s excuse was first that Higuain needed to regain fitness, now it’s that his striker needs time to adjust to the Premier League. He compared his situation to Luis Suarez’ first few months at Liverpool
It’s true that Luis Suarez signed in January, and took a while to really get going. But the difference is that Suarez was in his mid 20s and was a permanent signing, with his best years ahead of him. Liverpool could afford a few slow months to get the reward in the long term.
Higuain on the other hand was supposed to be an instant solution. He’s probably got only a handful of games left at the club.
So if he’s still looking for form now, what was the point of signing him as a player to help in the short term?
