Dates set for Alvaro Morata medical tests and return date

Alvaro Morata limped off for Chelsea after 35 minutes with a hamstring injury on Saturday, but the problem is so minor he could be back playing within this international break.

According to Marca, the forward will undergo tests tomorrow in Madrid (2nd October), with Julen Lopetegui and his Spain staff hoping that the injury will be so minor that the forward will be available for their games against Israel and Albania which are coming up this week.

They also claim that Morata himself is hoping to pass the tests and be available for his country, unsurprising considering he now has the perfect chance to win his place in the starting lineup ahead of Diego Costa.

Morata is finally playing week in week out, while Costa hasn’t played a competitive game since June and will need time to get up to speed. This is the break Morata has been waiting for in the battle for World Cup starter status.
