Antonio Conte to give loan defender pre-season time to impress

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reportedly set to give Blues loan star Matt Miazga the pre-season of 2017/18 campaign to impress the Italian and earn himself a place in the first-team, ESPN reports.

According to the source Chelsea will take the time to evaluate the situation with Miazga before deciding on his next move for the upcoming season.

Matt Miazga made two starts for Chelsea last season.

The United States international has had a great loan spell at Vitesse this season, as he has helped the Eredivisie side to the Dutch Cup glory and earned himself a regular place in the team’s starting line-up.

The 21-year-old has also been linked with a loan move to a Premier League side ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window on first of June.

Chelsea signed Miazga from New York Red Bulls in January 2016, as he became the first ever US international to have played for the West London side, making two starts under interim boss Guus Hiddink during his first six months at Stamford Bridge.
