Dominant Chelsea inch past sturdy Southampton
Chelsea beat Southampton 1-0 in a game that should have been a lot easier for Antonio Conte’s team.
In the end a Marcos Alonso free kick made the difference, but in reality the Blues were dominant throughout and should have had a much more comfortable lead.
As has been the case all too often in recent weeks they just couldn’t put away their chances, and even the introduction of Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata late on wasn’t enough to increase their lead to something more comfortable.
In the end however the Blues have the three points they wanted, and another week of a testing run of fixtures ticked off.
