“It was my choice” – 19 year old Chelsea talent shows top mentality as he blames himself for wasted 6 months

Andrey Santos has headed off to join the Brazil team for the Olympic football qualifiers going on this month in South America.

It gives the midfielder a great chance for some minutes after a season which has been a disaster so far on that front. His loan to Nottingham Forest saw him play just 97 minutes between August and January, and he’s just one of a few Blues who can say their first half of the season was a waste thanks to a poor choice of loan destination.

Back in his native Brazil, Santos spoke to Globo about his spell at Forest and what went wrong. He took a lot of the blame which others might put on the Chelsea sporting directors:

“[The loan] was my choice. Unfortunately it wasn’t what we all imagined. I was always ready but it was the coach’s choice, and I respect that. Thank God, I’m back at Chelsea, ready to give my best in any team I go to.”

Santos seems in good spirits, and we hope he shines with Brazil and sets himself up for a good loan in the second half of the season.

Chelsea are clearly thinking about keeping him around the first team squad, but we think that would be a mistake.

  1. The problem is the coach/manager , this young lad signed for this team that he believes he will play . Soon this coach/manager turn up , his chance to play for this team gone . Now his back , hope and pray he will not be loan up . Should be playing for Chelsea FC not to be loan up . He is quality and talented player that can mix up with Enzo /caceido/Lavia / Gallagher . To me his more talent than galla . He should be playing now for the team .
And Washington he should had started against Boro last time . This talented player’s should be playing now to the team instead of loaning them out . Again hope and pray this two Brazilian players should be playing for Chelsea now . Their are ready just play them regularly by given them more minutes . They will boost their confidence and get help of experience playing EPL game for Chelsea FC.

  2. i dont blame these young talents, instead the coaching staffs. look at man city’s BOBB how he’s doing in the pitch, really good. Washington should be given more minutes to play. I was rea happy with his display against preston and i imagined “what if he’s given 30 minutes?” the coach should really keep trying him there from 65-70 mins. And poch should really begin to talk and encourage his players whether winning or losing. Tell them what chelsea really want.
