After a few days of news moving quickly, we’ve tonight got a “here we go” from Fabrizio Romano on the subject of Ian Maatsen.
He says the left back will travel tomorrow to Germany and take a medical on Wednesday with Borussia Dortmund.
Just this morning the same man was saying there were details to be sorted, but as suspected both sides are keen on this happening, and so is the player. That always helps things.
What will be very interesting to find out is the terms of the purchase clause. Chelsea apparently wanted more than £30m – did they get it?

✈️🩺 More: understand Maatsen will travel on Tuesday… then medical booked on Wednesday.

Maatsen’s loan will use up one of the international loan slots, so another player will have to be recalled. That decision will have to happen soon.
He’s home grown and is young enough to not be included. That helps smooth things over, and we look forward to finding out more about what conditions will trigger the permanent move automatically – if there are any.
