£18m striker could be perfect as Chelsea look for short term upgrade to fire them into Europe

Nizaar Kinsella’s piece in the Evening Standard today has revealed that Newcastle are considering selling their striker Callum Wilson, and that Chelsea are among the teams interested in the former Bournemouth man.

Wilson has an impressive 46 goals in 102 for the Magpies, but is 31 now and is ultimately second choice behind Aleksander Isak. Eddie Howe’s team feel like now might be the right time to cash in so that they comply with this season’s PSR and FFP calculations.

If Newcastle really are in enough trouble that they want to sell, this could be a great move for Chelsea. At £18m he’s a bargain price for a player who could potentially be our backup striker for years to come.

He’s physical, experienced and with an eye for goal. He could well be our next Olivier Giroud at that price.

Chelsea’s desire to bring in a striker this month seemed to be fading due to a lack of options, but instead this provides a new horizon.

  1. Good Day he is not the kind of player for CFC we have lots of players and attacking player’s Like him, he is not our kind of player we need to stop going for such players

  2. I don’t know about this , but if he is available it good. Though John Duran from villa if its true is another good one . Its up to Chelsea FC they need this kind striker for January and they can develop them to become elite striker depends though if they get regular playing time . The striker they have so far aren’t good enough . NKunKu should be but his injury prone . Come on Chelsea FC get striker now . But get the right one.
