The Chelsea Chronicle have launched an exclusive claiming that Dujuan Richards is “impressing” Mauricio Pochettino and his coaches in training with Chelsea’s first team.
The young striker is fresh from the Phoenix Academy in Jamaica, and he joined up with the Blues this winter to take his footballing education to the next level. He’s already playing for Jamaica’s senior team, for whom he scored in the summer at the Gold Cup.
It’s a nice idea that this 18 year old can make an impact on a team which is desperate for goals. But let’s not get too carried away. This guy is talented but as raw as raw comes. He makes David Datro Fofana and Deivid Washington look like Thiago Silva in terms of top flight European experience. We’re sure he’s got talent, but we’re probably two years of loans away from him even being considered in the first team picture.
Still, if he’s impressing already, that can only be a good thing.
