Pape Daouda Diong, the in demand Senegalese wonderkid, has signed for Strasbourg, Nizaar Kinsella has reported tonight in the Evening Standard.
The 17 year old was pictured at Stamford Bridge last month to watch the Carabao Cup win over Newcastle, leading to widespread speculation that he was going to sign for us, but this move to our affiliate makes much more sense.
He will be in a French speaking country at a club which is focused on youth. The door to move to Chelsea is always open in a few years if he impresses. It saves us a precious foreign loan slot too. This looks to be a good example of the affiliate system working well.
