One important decision Mauricio Pochettino will have to make this weekend as who to play at the centre back positions following Benoit Badiashile’s impressive performance in the league cup against Blackburn Rovers.
Badiashile scored the opening goal for Chelsea and had a solid defensive performance in a 2-0 victory.
The blues have so much competition at centre, back with the likes of Axel, Disasi, Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, and Badiashile all fighting for those two starting spots.
In a terrible season last season, Badiashile was one of the standout performers, showing great aerial prowess, calmness on the ball and of course defensive ability.
Chelsea could opt to go for a five at the back against Spurs but personally I believe the Chelsea need to try and exploit Spurs’s weaknesses defensively that are yet to really be tested.
I would partner Badiashile with either Levi Colwill or Thiago Silva on Monday evening.
However, one great thing about this group of centre box is that whoever Mauricio Pochettino chooses the fans will surely feel quite comfortable no matter what.
