One current Chelsea player has commented on his future at the club amidst new contract chatter this week.
Chelsea have a couple of players with short contracts left and unsure futures, even though the majority of the squad are now on long term contracts.
One player who is on a short contract still and has been a pleasant surprise so far this season is midfielder Conor Gallagher. But with his contract up in the summer of 2025, you must still put him in the category of having an unclear future at the club until that contract is sorted out.
So what is the latest?
Gallagher has been speaking about it whilst on England duty this week, and he was asked whether the new contract will get sorted out soon.
“I’m sure that will get sorted out,” Gallagher said as cited by The Guardian.
“Everyone knows Chelsea is my club and I love playing for them. The fans are brilliant and I’m loving it right now. I’m sure it will get itself sorted out.”
It’s refreshing to hear him say this because he has become a very important player for Chelsea and in particular, for Mauricio Pochettino this season, who picks him every game and he doesn’t miss a minute!
