Paul Merson has labelled Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as “a rough diamond” following Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Tottenham last night.

Jackson scored a hattrick but missed several chances and was caught offside a handful of times when Tottenham deployed their high line.
One must wonder how many goals Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen leave with last night if they played for us in the same circumstance.
Despite the negatives, Merson feels that Jackson was persistent and these goals will give him confidence ahead of crucial games.
I think labelling Jackson as a rough diamond is the perfect way to describe him as he is super talented and has fantastic attributes such as his hold up play and dribbling but he is not clinical in front of goal and sometimes makes the wrong decisions with the ball.
