Moises Caicedo misses out with injury concerns growing

When Mauricio Pochettino was asked about Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in his press conference earlier this week, he said he was hopeful that both would start.

The pair had long trips over the international break to play for Argentina and Ecuador respectively, but Pochettino insisted that Enzo had looked bright and fresh in training.

He was less confident about Caicedo, and indeed with the team sheets now out, the summer signing is not even on the bench.

It still seems likely that he’s just been shut down by the medical staff for today to prevent an overload – but others have noted images this week of the midfielder with strapping on his leg.

Mauricio Pochettino will certainly be asked about this, and we really hope it’s a precautionary move rather than a reactionary one from the coach. With Romeo Lavia out for 6 weeks, we’re somehow running out of midfielders despite how many we signed.
