Jackson suspension will force Pochettino into alternative

Nicolas Jackson picked up his 5th yellow card in 6 career Premier League games on Sunday, a pretty impressive record, and one that sees him get his first ban in this country after little more than a month of action.

He’s able to play in tomorrow night’s EFL Cup game, and will then be suspended for the next Monday’s game against Fulham. So Jackson – who was due a rest anyway – will get one runout tomorrow, then 10 days off.

The Fulham game will need manager Mauricio Pochettino to dream up a replacement, as Armando Broja isn’t going to be fit for that game either.

Jackson is our only fit senior striker, and of course we want him available. We’ve seen some impressive play from him too, finishing aside. But perhaps being forced to try an alternative setup will create new opportunities, and perhaps it will help Pochettino stumble into a more effective attacking setup along the way.
