It’s rare to hear players say they’re happy with their performance after they get an unexpectedly bad results, but Axel Disasi was willing to say that he was personally satisfied with a 0-0 result against Bournemouth.
It drove fans to the point of frustration in the stands, but clearly Disasi’s only focus is on keeping a clear sheet. Points and league position are lesser concerns for him, at least on the evidence of his quotes at the Vitality Stadium today:
“I’m happy with my performance. We didn’t concede a goal so I think it’s good for the confidence. I tried to give my best to help the team. I think Robert Sanchez in goal did a great job this afternoon,” he said to Sky Sports after the game.
We know a few fans who would disagree. He got away with a couple of foolish lunges which could easily have been punished. One gave away a free kick in perfect position, and the other should probably have seen him booked.
Still, as he says, it was a clean sheet, and his teammate Robert Sanchez did indeed look good – bailing out Disasi and his fellow defenders on a couple of occasions.
