“A knock in his knee” – Mauricio Pochettino confirms another injury to starter

Chelsea left out Moises Caicedo from their squad for today’s game against Bournemouth, not a huge surprise given he was playing for Ecuador in South American in midweek.

But it’s not just a question of loan management – Mauricio Pochettino has just confirmed that the midfielder has an injury, adding him to the crazy and ever expanding list of Blues on the treatment table.

“Moises Caicedo arrived back from international duty with a knock in his knee. We need to assess him in the next few days but he wasn’t available for today, that’s why he not here,” Pochettino explained.

As injuries go it doesn’t sound like a bad one, but losing yet another first team player is just a devastating blow now. We’ve lost Romeo Lavia to a twisted ankle before he’s even played a minute for the club yet.

Just take a look at that bench – two goalkeepers and two under 18s. We’ve got to escape with a win today and focus on getting our squad back to somewhere near where it needs to be to compete.
