Wimbledon score early penalty after questionable Robert Sanchez foul

Chelsea are losing 1-0 to Wimbledon after the away team scored a penalty. Sadly the game isn’t being broadcast anywhere on Earth, so you’ll have to take our word for it.

Robert Sanchez went for a high ball and cleared out a Wimbledon attacker. Perhaps this referee was watching the controversial non-call in the Premier League two weeks ago, when Andre Onana did a similar thing to Sasa Kalajdzic but wasn’t penalised. Referees chief Howard Webb admitted that was a mistake, and despite appearing to get a touch on the ball, Spaniard Sanchez has been penalised here.

Against the odds – and to the delight of their fans, the away team were handed a spot kick.

Sanchez dived to his right, but the penalty was blasted down the middle by Tilley. Advantage Wimbledon… things just got a lot more interesting at Stamford Bridge. What a pity we’re not able to see it.
