Sources claim Moises Caicedo set for Liverpool move with medical possible today

After an unbelievably dramatic day in the Moises Caicedo saga, the midfielder now looks set to join Liverpool after the Reds made a decisive late swoop to secure the Brighton player.

As recently as this morning the reports were that late interest from Liverpool wasn’t going to be enough to disrupt Chelsea’s significant lead in the race to sign him.

The Blues had pursued Caicedo all summer, and despite making little progress in recent weeks, looked very likely to eventually concede and pay the £100m or so that Brighton wanted.

But Liverpool have clearly been lying in wait, and judged this the moment to strike. The reports from TalkSport say that Jurgen Klopp’s team will pay the money Brighton want, and are keen to sort a medical for Caicedo as soon as possible to seal this coup quickly.

If it happens, it leaves Chelsea in a big hole. They’ve sold their midfield, chased one star all summer, then failed to buy him.

  1. With Santos and Tyler Adams, we should be focused on Olise and maybe Kudus. We don’t need to pay $80+ Caicedo. We are good.

  2. This is going to be a very big failure for Chelsea if he goes to Liverpool. If we eventually come up with the £100m then it will be utter stupidity for the owners, cuz they could have paid and get it sorted out in time for him to participate in our pre season matches. Instead, they were buying up youngsters for the youth team and loan army, what exactly is the job of the numerous useless directors employed? We’re Boehly still in charge ye would have wrapped this deal up a long time ago, this is what happens when you employed amateurs from mid table teams to a club like Chelsea. Even Granovskia will not mess up such a deal.

    1. ……….Were Boehly still in charge he would have wrapped this deal up a long time ago, this is what happens when you employ amateurs from mid-table teams to a club like Chelsea. Even Granovskia will not mess up such a deal like this.

      1. Marina Granovskaia would have charmed Brighton into letting Caicedo go for 60M, she has the ability to do that.

  3. Although I hope this is all accurate and the move to Liverpool happens, still my spider senses keep telling me this must be fake news.

  4. The isn’t whether we should have snapped him up before Liverpool, it’s whether he’s actually worth 110 million (with add-ons rumoured to be in excess of 140m!!!). That’s just ludicrous money! And if you look back over the history or record (or near-record breaking) transfers you’ll find it’s about 50/50 that the player winds up justifying the price. I mean, did Paul Pogba really ever justify the eye-watering sum Utd spent on him? Certainly no to my mind.

We obviously didn’t value Caicedo at 100 million or we’d have done the deal a month ago, so if Liverpool were willing to go higher then they were always going nip in at the last moment and steal him. No point in ruing “what might have been” unless you actually think we’d have been wise to offer up 115m-120m (which is insane if you ask me).

  5. Lavia is a cheaper but better option, reason why Liverpool made 3 offers for him. It should be recalled that Caicedo wasn’t the first option for Liverpool.

  6. It shows what the new ownership is about. They are going to buy young players to sell on at a profit when the time is right. They could well be the new Glazers. Chelsea fans could be in for a long period of winning f.all. Just line the pockets of blueco.

  7. Liverpool don’t go to wrestling with city, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U or even Newcastle. This clubs have super rich and big spending owners.
£110M can give Liverpool 2 super star midfielders plus a perfect CB to help Liverpool this season. After this guy Liverpool still short in the middle they need 5 midfielder to replace OX, Milner, Keita, Henderson, Fabinho ther all left the club. You can’t buy 3 midfielders to replace 5 that are out of the club, where the hence and we all know Zobo is always get injuries. Alistair is good player he can’t do it alone with conceido at d middle of park. Liverpool go for 3 players with your £110M there are players across Europe, and South America with cheaper amount and super existing midfielders. My own opinion thou.

  8. So now where to from here Blues? Like I’ve the money Brighton wants can buy two quality players. There’s Tyler Adams now. I’m not sure of the quality of Lesley Ugechukwu, i believe he can be equal to the task. This now opens up a chance for Marco Verrati or Alvaro Tavarez. And what’s happening with Dusan?
